Today in class, as we were talking about the day’s significance, I was showing my AP American Lit students - who are also AP US History students - the chapter on JFK in their US History text. There’s a sub-section in the chapter entitled “The Reign of Camelot,” and it details why the public was so “enraptured by the idealist, youthful president, and his beautiful young wife.”
One of my students, upon looking through the photos of J+J that accompanied the text, suddenly remarked that ”they look so in love with each other.”
Totally didn’t expect such awesome randomness from one of my 11th graders (though they are a terrific bunch). My reply: “They totally were.”
I almost got all choked up :’(
